Well the place is very big you get all sorts. But there is sometimes trends of repeating whatever a tech youtuber said without confirming or understanding whats being said. And there's also *insert tech company here* shills galore.

Just like any community, you'll find die-hards extremists in each camp. There are a few who will absolutely state that an i5 is a poor choice for gaming above 100Hz only to display games where the CPU is the bottleneck (including Crysis 3 which who plays more than a few times) and saying "get a better CPU" when "getting a better monitor" could be an equally good solution.

I know how you feel. Someone posted a graph for a CPU bottleneck of an i3 on Overwatch getting 150Hz (or something)... I didn't know PC gamers used LG TruMotion TVs...

As someone who's briefly witnessed a 144 hz monitor, I can totally understand how, after getting used to it, you'd look down on 60 the way most here look down on 30.

I've been using a 144hz monitor for two years and I still enjoy 60fps gaming.

And some people can tolerate 30 fps; everyone is different :P

My motherboard crapped out so I'm waiting for a replacement in the mail.  I've been playing games on my laptop, but it doesn't have a dedicated GPU so I'm running Borderlands 2 at 25-30fps.  It's still fun. xD

No, it's not.  You should know better than to think you're having fun at under 60 fps, that's strictly forbidden by PCMR.

/s xD

In all seriousness, there's no way I could, but if you can that's good obviously :D

That's how it felt until I got a new rig at the start of 2014...my laptops couldn't play the majority of DX 9 games :$.

You think no Pentium will ever outperform it?  Or this one in particular (which is one of the lower end of this generation)?

Okay maybe on a newer generation CPU. It actually does make sense if an older newer architecture Pentium processor will out-perform an older generation i5 specially if a new technology was introduced to said new generation CPU. But price wise, no, i5's price wont go down just because it performs the same as a new generation CPU.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the G4620 (the highest end one) beat the i5-2500K at stock speeds.  But who buys an unlocked CPU and then runs it at stock speeds? xD

Exactly. No one in their right mind would do that.

They could've run it at stock until they needed to overclock it.

True.  And you can run your desktop computer on the Balanced power profile.  But the fact remains that if you are comparing maximum results, the stock speed isn't a very good indicator.

Of course. When benchmarking against newer products, I would compare both stock and overclocked results that can be reasonably expected.
