No, PCI and PCI Express are physically completely different slots.

i fellow Carey Holzman on youtube, he said a PCI-E  will fit in s stranded pci slot

It should fit but you will not get the full bandwidth and power from the device.

I may be incorrect but I thought I once heard that everything pci is forward and backward compatible. I saw some video on it once I will post a link to it when I find it.
