whichever is cheaper

I think the new one also includes an SSD in the price, so that's a substantial value add imo

You would think Dell would keep the same upgradeability with the new Inspiron.

Now, I have the 7559.  The 960m, according to benchmarks is on par with a desktop 750ti.  The 750ti is still a capable card.  To put it in perspective, I am playing Titanfall 2, a current AAA title, at high settings 60 fps.

But the new one comes with a 1050, which will probably last a lot longer than a 960m.  But from what I've heard, the new model only has a 1080p TN panel, while the old one is IPS.

Personally, I'm sticking with mine, no need to upgrade.  I'm playing current AAA titles at high settings (see Titanfall 2 example), and it has an IPS screen, which is a must for me when choosing a monitor, regardless desktop or laptop.

But also, the new one does come with a 1050.  I just don't know about the upgradeability.

Keep in mind the 7559 comes with an empty M.2 slot and empty RAM slot.  Also, Dell (on the 7559 model) includes a utility that will make a flash drive to easily move over to an SSD at later date if you so desire.

Currently focusing on my video game collection.

It doesn't matter what you play games on, just play good games you enjoy.

The new version has an IPS panel as confirmed by dell techs and I've seen the screen first hand. It's an IPS model. Not much better than the model the old one has, but it's an IPS from what I've seen.

Also the 1050 is about 50% faster than the 960M. So it's a substantial upgrade and will let you do a few games at higher settings or same settings with better framerates. :P

It depends really... you can get the old model for $740 right now with an SSD: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015PYYDMQ?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

The issue is the screen is 60Hz (at least the 7559).

Also, from what I've read on the new Dell, I've been reading that the 1050 is around 30% faster than the 960m.

Either way, it is a decent upgrade for what you are getting.  I'd recommend either.

The 960M is 30% slower than the 1050. It's the same way of saying that the 1050 is 50% faster than the 960M. I'm pretty sure I've already explained this either to you or someone else actually... xD

You didn't explain this to me, and I don't see how 30% = 50%

Math.  Simple algebra.

Say the 960m gets a score of 100, and the 1050 gets a score of 150.  For the math, we will give the 960m score the variable 'm' and the 1050 score the variable 'n'.

In this scenario:  The 1050 is 50% faster than the 960m.

Math:  .5m+m=n  or (50% of 100)+100=150

and the 960m is 33.3% slower than the 1050.

Math:  n-.33n=m  or 150 - (33.3% of 150) = 100

For a first post here on the forums, you've already impressed and sent me into a mild depression. I'm so dumb I had to take a minute to actually relearn a little math to actually solve that equation. xD

Appreciate the halp tho. :D
