Killer NIC (driver only) will i have any issues?

abdo601

i will build a new pf and i like the look of the MSI Z270 M5
but it has killer E2500 so if i used the driver only will i face any issue of killer ones?
and will it still use CPU (with only driver) more than Intel NIC?

As in pfSense?

Hard to say for definite, unless you can find anyone else who has done it. Look on the Killer website and see how their support for FreeBSD/Unix is.

My personal opinion would be to stay clear and get a supported Intel model. Intel have long been a good supporter of Unix and generally tends to work the best.

On a side note, that machine is savagely over specced for a firewall.

Edit: I see that the Killer E2500 has a changelog mentioned for the Linux 4.8 Kernal just a few days ago. I highly doubt its been built into FreeBSD.
