CPU speeds on a graphics card, Ryzan offers 5.0Ghz

I wonder if it's possible to put ryzens 5.0Ghz CPU speed on a video card, by adding CPU cores instead of what they use now.  Could you imagine a 5.0 GHz Core Clock on a 1080?

Show me a 5Ghz Ryzen?

Gonna guess you meant Kaby Lake though.

Most clickbait title I have ever come across. "Ryzen offers 5 ghz". Then proceeds to ask a question if we could imagine it having 5 ghz.. ffs

Wrong section btw

This is just my opinion, however...

AMD has made many claims over the past few years. I might even believe one or two when they start making their way into the hands of reviewers, and are tested by someone impartial outside of AMD's own laboratories.

not only if we could imagine it having 5ghz... but using it as a gpu.

It'd be possible, but you'd lose everything that makes a GPU effective at what it does.

A CPU is great for high variance, low repetition workloads. A GPU is great for high repetition, low variance workloads, such as game graphics and number crunching (aka GPGPU)

Its just a rumour.. i remember watching ncix videos that Ryzen can be overclocked to 5Ghz using air cooler which is sounds doubtful.

Kaby Lake so far seems to be happy at ~5GHz on high end air coolers with AVX disabled or unused.

Or, you know, just Larrabee revived or a Xeon Phi :P

Xeon Phi, unfortunately, would suck ass as a GPU when compared to our current offerings though, if it supported it.

CPUs and GPUs are fundamentally different, using a CPU on a graphics card would yield extremely poor results. CPUs are more about doing sequential tasks really quickly, GPUs run many small tasks in parallel.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

read this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graphics_processing_unit

feel free to ask anything you do not understand. GPU clock speeds have only recently surpassed 1GHz. Think of a GPU as a bunch of hard calculations that have been offloaded from the CPU
