Yeah, the ones they have are ok but missing quite a few that I'd need.

I wouldn't take a gamble on something that directly affects the usability of the device.

At 200 dollars and unlocked I am less picky. Although by the time it comes out samsung may have an unlocked s5/6 for around that price on the market.

Seems like a lot of people are withdrawing their pledges after the spec announcement. Apparently people are very disappointed with how things are turning out.

If I were in the market for a new phone I'd buy it.

Eh, with what's coming out in that price range and the fact that it'll have an outdated SoC I wouldn't be too impressed.

Also, if it's not compatible with enough bands, $200 is still $200 wasted. ;)

I think it's a little cheeky for a relatively big/wealthy company to crowdfund

The snapdragon 625 is not outdated.

Just cos it's not a 2017 SOC doesn't mean it's old.

Yes. The G4. A phone that will almost be a year and a half old by the time this is released.

A newer version will likely be available by the time the phone comes out.

LTT is interesting. on one hand we argue against putting 15 year old nokia bricks out to pasture and on the other 12 months is outdated and not worth our cash.

Funny thing is that the Moto G5 will have the Snapdragon 625 just like this one.

I think the problem is that there really isn't a proper successor in sight. The 625 should be a 400 series chip in my opinion. It's a power efficient chip first and foremost but with a lower price tag. 10nm is too expensive and there is no successor to the A53 cores yet (although ARM is supposed to unveil one this year). So the only thing they could do is upgrade the other blocks on the SoC or throw in some A35 cores for the efficiency cluster (which boggles my mind that no one has done yet).

+1

The Snapdragon 650 series is too similar to the 820 imho. But otherwise it would make a for a good successor to the 625 if it was 14nm

The 625 is not old lol. And even if you decided it was so "old". Qualcomm released the Snapdragon 626.

Flop. Samsung already has this.

1second use your hand to touch the screen, vs 2 seconds staring at it and wait it to change.

If it is not broken, let's fix till it is.
