GTX 1070 on a FX-8320 bottleneck

Good day,

I'm planning on upgrading my graphics card. I currently have an AMD Radeon R9 290X Reference using Kraken G10 with Corsair H55, since the stock cooler sounds like it will explode just browsing using Google Chrome.

Will my FX-8320 which is clocked at 4.00GHz (stable) significantly bottleneck a GTX 1070? Or is it even a worth it upgrade from what I currently have since I'm only gaming at 1920x1080 at 60FPS, but planning to buy a higher refresh rate monitor with the same native resolution.

Many thanks.

Yes it will bottleneck but, it would still be a sizeable upgrade from your 290x. Even at 1080p 60fps atleast you would be able to max out almost every game.

No bottleneck, but you have a choice. Upgrade to a 1440@60 or get a better CPU when Zen comes out.

Do you think it will be a major bottleneck that renders the card inefficient compared to what I have now? Or will it give a worthy upgrade instead?

It won't be a major bottleneck but, it will slightly decrease performmance compared to if you had a 7600k or something similar

Honestly, if you are playing at 1080p 60fps I would say that it isn't worth it but at 144hz at 1080p I would say that it's worth it.
