XFX RX 480 Having Trouble Playing Games Above 1080p

MG4287

Hi . So recently, I built my own gaming PC, and I bought an XFX RS RX480 8GB gpu. I also have an AOC U2879VF 4K Freesync monitor. And I wanna play games at 4k. But, whenever I try and run a game above 1080p, the screen goes black and flickers in and out. I can still hear the audio coming from the game through my headphones, but the display output just isn't there. I've personally never seen this happen before, so I'm kinda guessing as to what it is that's causing it. It's not a driver thing, I'm running the latest ReLive drivers and I tried on older ones as well, it did the same thing. If anyone can help me as to what's causing this issue, it would be greatly appreciated.

PC Specs (just in case you wanted them):

6700k oc'd to 4.5ghz

Hyper 212 Evo

16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4-3000

EVGA 650W PSU 80+ Gold

ASUS Z170-E Motherboard

What port is it connected using? Like HDMI, DP, etc?

I've tried HDMI(its HDMI2.0b) and DP(DP 1.4) and I've had the issue on both. But at the moment, I'm using HDMI

It only happens in games, not on the desktop.

Do you still have the same results if you simulate 4k using Virtual Super Resolution through AMD Radeon settings?

In Global Wattman you don't have power saving mode or anything like that enabled?

My XFX 480 will happily sit on Doom and other titles at 1440p 60 solid

Intel i5 6600k @ 4.5GHz | NZXT Kraken X52 | Asus Maximus VIII Hero | Asus ROG Strix GTX 1070 | 16GB DDR4 Corsair Dominator Platinum @ 3200MHz | CoolerMaster MasterCase 5

It's not really a fix but you could try disabling Freesync and changing the refresh rate of your monitor to a lower amount such as 50Hz.

When were the drivers installed?

Nothing like a routine driver refresh with the latest drivers and DDU just in case :)
