AMD and Nvidia graphic cards together

Shariq

Hey guys I have a rx 480 and a gtx 980. Now I'm wondering to connect both the cards to the mother board. I just wanna run 980 when I want and 480 when i want. The question I have is will the drivers of both nvidia and amd create issues? Can I run this kind of setup?

You'll have minor issues. Mainly, you need to clean uninstall the AMD drivers with their clean uninstall utility when you want to update them.

You'll also need to switch primary displays if you have 1 connected to each monitor, or swap inputs if you only have one.

They'll be fine but you'll have to be switching the monitor around whenever you want to use the other one. And the two drivers might conflict each other. Edit: probably not apparently

Won't cause a problem at all.

Nvidia already is desinged to run their driver at the same time as other drives.(optimus)

Never had any issue with both drivers installed when i had 290x with 980 ti but i didn't install their software so i don't know if it will conflict or not.

Old software would, but what's been out for the past few generations haven't conflicted in my experience. Just issues installing AMD's drivers without clean uninstalls first.
