Only if you get it cheap. Otherwise, go for haswell or skylake (or wait for kaby lake prices to go down)

You can get them for ~$110 on ebay. It would be a cheap upgrade considering you wouldn't need to change anything else.

My bad I was thinking of the i7 2600, Dont know what Ks go for.

why would you go from the 3570K (3rd gen i5) and "upgrade" to a 2700K (2nd gen i7) and not the 3770K (3rd gen i7)? (unless there is something obvious that I'm missing..)

Because quad core with hyperthreading for less than 3770K. I doubt very much the difference between the 2700K and 3770K but IDK.

Do you need the extra threads for video editing or folding ? waste of money to upgrade if you only use the computer for gaming.

Ryzen 3800x 4.4ghz 1.294v all core Noctua NH-D15 x570 Aorus Elite 16gb G.Skill Flare X 3600mhz 15-15-15-30 1T

Didn't LGA 1155 have a BIOS upgrade that allowed you to use Sandy Bridge ? Depending on how decent your motherboard is you should be able to get a used 3770k/3930k for a halfway decent price if you're in a hurry.

I do agree with "wait for Ryzen" though, if nothing else it will make the Intel/AMD prices go down  :P

The i7-3770k is supported, BIOS 0801+.

Again, if you're planning on an upgrade you would be much better off with a new platform, Ryzen or 6700k+, they will last you for many more years.

... exactly... the 3770K will work on an LGA 1155 socket. :)
The first PC I built was on a z77 board.
