What type of wood?

I wood (pun intended) like to make a custom desk but I do not know which type of wood, would look good? Any ideas

I like any of the hard woods but they are expensive. If I were you I would choose a cheaper wood to start off with and make it. There is so much satisfaction in making furniture yourself. Home Depot has some nice wood for sale, Pine, Cedar, Maple, then there are specialty stores.

 

You could look into Vaneer as well, its a good alternative.

I love the way that Cedar looks, feels, and smells but it is a little expensive.  Also if you're going to shop at Home Depot in particular, inspect the wood carefully.  They're notoriously bad for selling warped lumber.

I actually like the inconsistency of grain on the regular oak (option 2).

Yeah that is what I was thinking but I just don't know which type of oak would look best with white drawers

Go for a dark stain if you want it to suit white drawers.
