Is Gsync Worth It?

This guy (OP) has a pair of 1070's

I understood it as planning to buy, not already have. Of course if OP already owns one 1070 or two then I would personally get the non-gsync 100Hz 3440x1440.

Since OP plays FPS games, a super high refresh monitor will do more than Gsync, so either a 100Hz ultrawide (run it at 16:9 in windowed mode or letterboxed, if the game doesn't like it, and in games that work, it wil be awesome).

Or a 144Hz 1440p would also be a fine choice. Not choosing Gsync allows the choice of an IPS panel without paying $700 for it.

Tearing on 144hz isn't nearly as bad as 60hz. Honestly I would get the Gsync still unless you really need the extra performance of the 6900k. It really to know what is your priority. If you do more gaming then Gsync if you do more 3d tasks then the 6900k.

I do about 50/50 for each

1440p at 144Hz with g-sync ... that's probbably the best gaming experience.

I would take that any day. Not sure if those 2 extra cores are worth it.

i7 5820K price: 410€

i7 6900K price: 1100€

http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-5820K-vs-Intel-Core-i7-6900K/2579vs3605

So you are paying almost 3x more for those 20% more performance? No thanks.

Not to mention that you can OC 5820k better, so when you compare OC to OC, it will be only 15% difference.

An 5820K is fine, i use Zbrush and UE4, and also 3DS Max, Maya, Mudbox, Blender, PS, AE. Zbrush is multi-threaded so a 6 core would be great. UE4 just needs a good GPU.

Do you do any rendering? If so how is it working out? Are you glad you made the purchase? Would you recommend it over the 6900k for the gpu improvement (I found a way to get the monitor as well)?
