Which version of HDMI can do 144Hz or there isn't any? HDMI 2.0?

Is the version of HDMI are cables or ports? Or both?

Apart from DVI and DP which port/cable support 144Hz?

The cable itself will specify which version it uses, but that has nothing to do with the HDMI port.

HDMI 2.0 will do 1080p at 144hz iirc. DP and Dual-Link DVI should also be capable of this.

 

Even if it is rated as a HDMI 1.4 cable, it should still be fine with HDMI 2.0. Try it and see if it works. If not, you can always buy a new one. That being said, your monitor also has to support HDMI 2.0 input.

 

If you bought your cable a long time ago, it wouldn't say HDMI 2.0 because that wasn't a thing yet.

All cables are the same, what will restrict your frequency and resolution is the HDMI port type.

IIRC 1.4 cannot do 144hz 1080p, but 2.0 can.

You need your display and GPU to have HDMI 2.0.
