Set special hieghts on a element

Hi! Im wondering if you can set the CSS property "top:" to 50% of an image height. The image change height depending on the users window(responsive web design) and Im wondering if you can set a text in the midle of the image with the property "top:".

grab the image height on window size change with JavaScript and update the css.
