The Razer Stolen Valerie Laptop is found, kinda.

LeapFrogMasterRace

i'll believe those listings if they for once have proof they actually have the laptop instead of CES footage, i mean, it's not like the concept we have on forums (piece of paper with username) is rocket science...

I just don't see the point of stealing the thing though.  It's still a prototype,  meaning it isn't the best for actual use,  and it's basically impossible to sell considering what it is.

AMD Ryzen R7 1700 (3.8ghz) w/ NH-D14, EVGA RTX 2080 XC (stock), 4*4GB DDR4 3000MT/s RAM, Gigabyte AB350-Gaming-3 MB, CX750M PSU, 1.5TB SDD + 7TB HDD, Phanteks enthoo pro case

its a fully working prototype with hardware in it so it is a product.

I think he meant that, it is the kind of things that may break after a few open/close. Razor didn't really want anyone to touch it, so that tells you something.

Many times prototypes are just concepts, so everything that should be metal, are just 3D printed parts. Not to mention it didn't pass through any durability testing. Usually, they design something, goes through testing, it fails after x number of times, with poor results, then they start analyzing what happens, try and understand what they missed during their design and calculation stages, then find a POTENTIAL solution, make it happen, do the testing again, fail again, and repeat, until testing passes, so that the consumer won't have the system for the extra display fail after 2 years, or something.

Doesn't Razer know that Windows 10 has "Find my Device" feature?

Like really. just login to your MS account online, pick your computer, and you see a map of where it is.

It is enabled by default (assuming you are using a MS account)

They most likely did not use a Microsoft account for the prototypes, instead using a local account. That's the standard fare for demo units. I don't think that you can use Find My Device with a local account.

I haven't looked into it that much, but the amount of publicity centered around this incident makes me curious... Most curious indeed.

Valerie is a terrible idea anyway IMO. If I retrieved it for razer I would add a message telling them I found it in the trash and I would suggest that they return it there.

Is it possible to shut the laptop off, take it somewhere else, turn it on in a place where there is no internet connection and just sign out of the laptop? Or at the very least you could probably do this and then just do a factory reset.

or just you know , take out the harddrive and put in your own

Thing is, there might be special drivers and whatnot required to make it function so doing that might screw with it.

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.
