How to increase Heatsink fan speed?

Krigga

Hi guys,

My CPU has been getting pretty hot, and I've noticed that the fan on the heatsink (Deepcool GammaXX400) doesn't speed up. How do I increase the speed of the heatsink and other case fans?

I use Speedfan but I think you can also change that stuff in the BIOS.

In Speedfan, my fans didn't pop up. I'll try the BIOS, but idk how to use it. Yolo I guess.

@Krigga Speedfan requires some configuration first. go into Configure > Advanced > Chip. click the drop-down and check each one to find the fan signal

Are they 3 pin? If they aren't PWM or whatever it's called you can't use something like that. You can change the DC power but it should be at max anyway rn. You should buy some higher speed fans that are 4 pin

Does that mean Pulse Width Modification? I'm sorry, I'm not sure I understand.

strange. motherboards usually have the Nuvoton chip as the fan signal controller. is Speedfan reading any fan speeds?

go to the Fans tab and take a screenshot

There is literally nothing under the Fans tab, totally empty.

very odd. speedfan would have found something already, though the final readings may be erroneous or incorrect. and looking at your motherboard specifications, there are 4 4-pin fan headers and the CPU fan header is 4-pin too. is the fan on the heatsink 4-pin or 3-pin?

alternatively go into the BIOS and see if you can configure fan speeds there

try consulting your motherboard manual and find the section about fan headers and speed control.

Is there an arrow on the side of the fan somewhere? Should show you the air flow direction and the direction of the fan itself.

I just checked, the fans are going the right way. Not sure what to do.

Does the fan even spin if you are gaming?

Did you use heatsink paste?

Did you play around with some kind of Fan monitoring software to setup custom fan curves? e.g: 300rpm at 40 degrees. 500 at 50 or something like that?
