I5 7600k + GTX1080 = bottleneck?

it really depends on thegame, most games in 1080p are everywhere from 100fps-200fps for triple A titles to 500fps in esports games (csgo, league of legends)

Thanks everyone. Ok i'll get the i5 7600k. is not worth paying 100 more for a few (IMO) FPS.

Title say all. Will a stock I5 7600k bottleneck a GTX1080 and the GTX1080TI? even if is overclocked to 5GHZ?

Depends on the game and resolution.

No way, 7600K and 7700k are the same chip with different clock speeds. Every heard a 7700K botllenecking a 1080? I think your totally good

nope the 7700k is a i7 it has hyperthreading.

Not much overall. I have an older 4670k and while you won't get the performance that the 7700k brings in some games (since modern game engines can use more and more threads) you still get a lot.

idk

There should be a bottleneck database same way people are doing very extensive measures of FPS in every major game. When I look at new graphics cards, every tech blog tests it on various games to show off FPS, but it's always with the top CPU of the moment. Is bottleneck so hard to measure or people just don't care?

Lmao maybe at the fab they are the same chip, but i7 offers 4 more threads and a higher base clock speed for the extra money.

idk

an i7 may be necessary if you have a 144hz monitor and/or want to go higher than 60 or 100 fps.. the i7 will help maintain higher minimum frame rates, lesser drops.

Alright, The i5 7600K should NOT bottleneck a GTX 1080, from my testing I haven't seen much difference in GPU intensive games. Although if you are playing CPU intensive games the i7 will beat the i5.

sure.

another game at the top of my head is watch dogs 2. you need an intel 8-core (think a 5960x) to run above 60fps minimum

nopenopenopenope

7700K is a different chip, with more threads and more cache, as well as more PCI lanes.

6700K and 7700K still aren't enough for the full potential of a 1080 at some resolutions/in some games, so an i5 wouldn't be wise. A 1070 or Vega equivalent would be better suited.

The point being...? EX iPhone 6, 6s, and 7 are almost identical, with almost being the keyword. However, there are still significant differences in performance and features that make it worth the extra cost. Get my point?

Depending on game and res. At 1080p, definitely in some games. At 4K or maybe 1440p, not really

Well for me. i'll use it for running games at 1080p 144hz and 1440p too. but it that really a bottleneck that MUST BE AVOID? or is just a minimal difference like 15fps or something.

i'll probably playing those resolutions since i'm not that rich to afford those monitors. but the price tag of the new 4k 144hz from asus seems tempting. (500$ aprox)

  1. 15FPS is not minimal. In some games the difference between a 1070 and 1080 may only be 15FPS. The difference, for example, between 4K45 and 4K60 is very very very very very veryyyy noticeable.
  2. A 7600K and 1070 or even 7700K and 1070 would be better balanced. Then in 2--3 years get an xx80Ti or some AMD beast if it exists
