CPU fan error after removing overclock

logan

So recently i have thought that my computer has been excessably loud, at first i thought it was my hard drive, so i removed my non-window's drive; figured out it wasn't that...
next i thought it was my gpu, then found out it wasn't , but they do randomly go max speed when turning on the system, and powering off

i gave it a day, or few, then next boot i noticed it said "cpu fan error" ; i popped open the side and thought maybe the connection came loose, so i took it completely out, and readjusted it in there.
it still sais cpu fan error every other boot, but if i turn off and reset a few times, it eventually works.

~I don't know if it the actual cpu fan (i use hyper 212 evo)
~the thermal compound being somewhat old
~or maybe the pin connection on the mb
~i removed my overclock a few day's ago, from 4.3 to stock, and turn my cpu/bios mode to "energy saver" , so i figured this may be a problem as well.

so i have a SILVERSTONE TD02-E AIO in my newegg cart, ready to purchase...but wanted peopls input

Personally I never use the motherboard headers. I plug the fans either into a fan controller or strait into +12V on the PSU. There should be an option in the BIOS to disable CPU fan monitoring so it won't notify you if the CPU fan is behaving irregularly. Not the ideal solution but it should solve the CPU fan error if nothing else works.

The cpu fan error just indicates that it's not getting a signal from the cpu_fan header. This can be from not having a fan plugged in or the fan being at a low rpm. It's not that important and you can just turn off the warning in the motherboard settings.

That being said, the 212 Evo should be plugged into the cpu_fan header unless you have a good reason not to.

1. I loaded optimized defaults, it didn't help

2. The hyper 212 has always been in the same header, I've never moved it

3. I have a cpu fan optional (or something like that) header on my mb, should i try plugging it into that instead?

When i get home from work, i will try increasing my cpu fan's speed, and look for where to disable that warning. :)

The warning is enabled by default.

It may also be labeled as 'F1 error at startup'.
