FaH won't stop using CPU

Hey all, iv had a problem recently where despite removing the cpu slot, the cpu is still ramping up and working at ~100% load.

I have reinstalled and tried fiddling with slots. But to no avail. Is this a known bug? Or am I missing something.

Not it that I also added abscond GPU without drivers, if this has something to do with it. And I'm being ignorant.

Many thanks.

Have you found the actual process in the

task manager? are you sure it's folding

that is ramping up your cpu? is this on a

desktop or laptop?

I will double check these things tonight, after classes. Thanks!

It starts in time with when I hit folding. So I haven't thought of checking. Also, it's on desktop.

Hello again, So i'v looked and have confirmed that its FaH using the cpu.

Also my gpu is not working despite the controller stating that it is. Wattman gives no activity. Although FaH lists it as Ellesmere XT (rx480). Funny thing i noticed.

Again, I did put in a second GPU (660) to run fah at the same time, but it has no drivers. I dont know if its possible that it is causing all this or it save to leave to in.

In hindsight i kinda expected this, i've seen

it before :P

You could try changing the opencl index on

the first slot, to either 0 or 1 depending on

what it is now, see if it does anything. And/or

the gpu index to get them to match. I would

guess that fah might be mixing them up, can

get it wrong when mixing gpus.

To be honest, i don't know what problems it

can cause when you haven't installed any

drivers either. But, i have seen the same

problem from driver issues before.

So i would guess that either A) You have

very outdated drivers on the 470, and you

need an update, or B) fah is mixing up the

indexes and trying to fold on the wrong gpu.

Updating drivers, or pulling out the second

gpu is probably the easiest/quickest to try

first. Just by process of elimination, then you

might know what the problem is.
