What would it take for YOU to switch to Ryzen/Vega

I'm as excited as the next guy about AMD's new lineup of graphics cards/CPUs (mostly the CPUs), but I don't see myself switching.  First I'll point out the BF1 demo Linus saw at CES in his AMD Ryzen video.  He tried to hide it, but you could see the game in the 70s on the intel platform and 50s on the amd platform.  This was with intel's 6900k which, to most, would seem like it would be better for gaming than a 6700k, but it's per core performance is slightly lower than its "lesser", but more capable, skylake buddy.  Vega, looks cool too.  Though we didn't get to see an amd/intel in the graphics department, that Doom demo was pretty impressive.  I don't really have a "team", but I do use an intel CPU because they are objectively better, and I use an Nvidia GTX 1080 because it, aside from the titan XP, reigns king over all cards.  For me to switch to Ryzen, the processsor would have to beat out my 4790 and be under 200.  For me to switch to vega, well, it would have to out perform the 1080 and be under $400.  If I was building a new computer, and I had to pick between vega and a 1080, they would have to be in a few frames of each other and vega would have to be less, but not by much, maybe $50 USD.  What would it take for YOU to switch?

I'm just waiting for stock, once it's in stock I'm probably buying it. I need the core count without spending a fortune.

Basically a better price to performance (using $/FPS). I'm team green/blue but if AMD could step it's game up and break into the high end PC scene that would make me willing to switch.

a baller ass price to performance ratio and under $350

If the GTX 1080 equivalent is about as powerful but costs 400-ish dollars, I'd get that.

 

And for the 6700K rival, again basically same performance but a good reduction in price.

A better experience for my money. No loyalty one way or the other - whatever is best performance within my budget gets my money.

Nothing, my CPU is more than OK at the moment. I would however (if they perform) start suggesting to others to use them, and thats a big part of what makes money and what doesn't in the PC market (think of EVGA's RMA).

Lol, well seeing the Ryzen Demo they did with a vega GPU it would seem it might be in GTX 1070/1080 territory, and anyways it's going to at least be better than the 480, so that's why/how.

I think a lot of people will just take  Ryzen if similar performing to just make a big F you Intel gesture. For myself I don't care, since I only look at point of need for upgrade/new platform when needed. And for others same story unless they really insist that they only want AMD: in that case I say just to wait until Zen is here, because I wouldn't settle for any of the older AMD currently.

Well if I can get something that performs similarly or better than the 1070 for about the same price as the 1070, then sure.

To most it seems like AMD is just throwing 2X this 8X that improved blah blah. It is much cooler to know a company is thinking about other things unlike Nvidia brute forcing the win and adding dumb screen shot stuff. I think I might get a VEGA GPU and Ryzen CPU for a folding machine. My 7950 and FX6300 are a bit power hungry
