120Hz or 144Hz monitor for gaming.

Trail Mixorz

I want a higher hz monitor than my 60hz monitor because I play games for higher fps, not really much for visuals. I play a lot of CS:S and my fraps and in game fps reader tells me I get close to 300 frames in that game (capped at 300) and when I play games like Battlefield 4 multiplayer, I play on medium/low settings just to get the most frames I can without the game looking too bad, and I get way more than 60 frames. Can anyone recommend a good 120/144Hz monitor at 24" 1080p that doesn't have the worst color accuracy and isn't extremely expensive? I know I'm being picky, but I'm just seeing what's out there because I don't know much about monitors.

yes I saw that video and was really interested, but are most higher hz monitors around $300-400?

Honestly I don't think there is much point spending that much on a monitor.
just get a 120Hz monitor (still quite expensive) and save the cash for something more important.

How about you getting yourself an PB278Q (You won't get anything close to 60 fps so yeah...)

i have a 144hz monitor and honestly, if i were about to buy a new monitor, i would go for higher res more than higher hz. Just get a nice 1440p monitor and with some luck and skill you can oc it to 75hz or something.

Well I don't really see a point to higher resolutions right now, especially since I'd have to probably get a more powerful gpu with it. 1080p is fine for me

My 2gb gtx 670 is fine with most titles at 1440p  ;)

If you want a high res monitor go for the benQ that was linked earlier

120Hz vs 60Hz... more smooth and if that counts for CS then go for one.

chances are you can OC the refresh rate of the monitor to a 144Hz.

The only monitor that somewhere between 260-280$ is probably an Asus vg248q 24 inch 144hz refresh rate and 1ms response time monitor

Get the Asus vg248q with g-sync! your video card supports it and you need a new monitor anyway, so why not go for it? I bet my balls it's worth it :D

I got a BenQ XL2420T and honestly I don't see much of a difference. And it's standing next to my PLS 1440p screen. Now it looks like anus. I'd get a decent 1440p screen if you're in that price range already.

144hz pretty much eliminates the use for g-sync (unless you're playing minecraft on a good card xD). If you're turning your settings up high, you'd be hard pressed to go past 120 fps; but with that extra 24hz it almost guarantees there will be zero screen tearing without vsync. So if you're playing something like bf4 and you usually get somewhere near 120 fps in a normal situation, when you're in a small corridor with no one else, it might hit 130 fps without tearing and when you're knocking down buildings with cuisers and ships chasing you, and you shoot 90 fps (ish) you're not gonna have v-syncs stupid 30-60-90-120 steps. I hope that made sense xD

i just orderd 2 of the benq gaming monitor that linus recently made a video about,

wanted to try something new , never spent this much on monitors :P

i probarly didn't need 2, just keep one of my current ones and just 1 benq for gaming and such, but i like having 2 exact same monitors, just so that i have the same colours on both screens
and i just thought i love gaming, and with future games and all, i just hope i notice the difference :D
