Raja Koduri goal for 2017 is to have 1000$ 4K ready PC

3DOSH

In the latest interview with PCWorld Raja Koduri explains what VEGA is trying to achieve in 2017 and one of those thing is to bring down the cost of 4K gaming

from 2k $ to around 1k $ and he hopes to do that by working with different vendors of the PC market such as Ram and Storage makers etc.

In this Interview he also explains the way memory allocation works on the new VEGA GPUs also how game Devs can take advantage of that .

Its also worth mentioning that VEGA is still in the lab so clock speeds and overclockabilty is still being optimized.
Interview goes into a lot of topics so make sure you watch it.

Well with the 1080 being able to push close to 4k 60 for $600, I don't see it that far in which $1k can get you 4k 60fps/max ready

Even a 400$ 1070 can do somewhat decent enough

He is talking about PC in which you have CPU able to feed 4K able GPU plus SSD and decent amount of ram. With 1080 and 6700K + decent MB you are already above 1k $.

Check out the interview so you understand his prospective more.

More resolution = more gpu stress and less cpu. An i5 and 1080 could do

Even with I5 u still looking at 1K $ GPU+CPU+MB. what I'm trying to say is the combination of VEGA GPU and Ryzen CPU could be considerably cheaper than the competition.

That's fair, but at least we have a standard to compare to whatever Raja comes up. Hopefully with less corners cut since a $1000 PC on a $40 case is a bit sad :(

if we can get 4/8 for 1k that would be sweet. I like most people I assume, already have a case. I got a switch 810 few years back with plans for watercooling still not done it lol

Sorry I thought you were saying its already possible now with the 1080 to do 60 fps with PC at 1k which is really not true if you look at it objectively. With the latest titles 1080 avgs around 60fps but rarely goes above that and its mins are way below 60 fps. Titan Xp is true 4k ready card or the hopefully the soon to be released 1080 ti.

Took the words right out of my mouth. The only card that is for sale right now that can do proper 4k gaming is the Titan X(P) and that card literally is over the $1000 limit for one component. Pretty sure digital foundry covered this like forever ago.

How about $1000 for the entire PC? Like, computer, monitor, keyboard and mouse, you know, the entire PC?

I always see these "PC build for $1000 and it's great!" videos/articles but they all assume people are upgrading and thus already have their monitor, keyboard and mouse. What about new builds? A good 4K monitor alone is like $350-$400, that means you now only have about $600 for a 4K-ready PC which is not going to happen.

Ye ole' train

Objectively, it is true (if you agree the 1080 can do 4K).

Subjectively, you don't like some of the parts in the builds posted and therefore you don't consider them true "4K under $1K".

I don't have anything against the parts but the idea that 1080 can do 4k @60fps.
