There are several tests already comparing 2-6 gen i7s and the tests show very different results. Digital foundry crisys/witcher 3 tests show that, and many others.

IDK If the problem here was dx12, but that is not right. Every other test made prove otherwise.

Ultra is stupid. ALWAYS.

Was Sandy that big of a jump over Westmere? I figured the jump to Core (2) was far larger than from Westmere to Sandy. Probably closer to what Nehalem was to Core. Or was there something I missed from the launch reviews?

DX12 in battlefield 1 is broken AF. When it doesn't crash, I get 30fps under my average DX11 rate w/ a 6850k.

I still don't get why Ivy Bridge is constantly faster (in BF1).

The game is horribly optimized so results though repeatable are quite arbitrary, thus you can get odd results such as these.

It would probably be worse if full dx12 since that allows for more dev error

According to the anandtech review, the 2700K was nipping at the heels of the i7 hex core of the time even in worst case scenarios. 30% or so over Lynnfield, which at the time was a 2 year old architecture. While not exactly the Conroe moment, that is quite a big improvement compared to what we've seen since.

this isnt that shocking, the reason is that whilst Sandy and Ivy appears extremely impressive, they are running "faster then normal" with that 4GHz clock rate. This means other parts of the CPUs, like the Cache and other sub-structures will also be boosted. Whilst in the case of the Haswell, Skylake and Kaby Lake CPUs, they are technically "underclocked" slightly, yes it is the base clock, but said base clock is lower then normal operating speeds.

Then again, Hyperthreading makes any product way more relevant. Even if IPC isnt a big factor, HT is

Newer CPU shows bigger lead.

The funny thing is hyperthreading doesn't add more raw compute. It simply allows for better utilization of the existing compute resources. The core is just too wide for individual threads to fully saturate at all times. One could say that Hyperthreading is an integral part of the architecture to get the most out of it, and not just a feature.

Your chance of seeing that is only if someone here, has that exact setup and are willing to spend their entire day running the same exact benchmarks that was presented in the article. Otherwise, no one is going to dumpster dive, spend their money on building system, based on your silly request.

I keep reading about that and I've had zero issues with it on my 980. I can run it maxed out just fine and keep a consistently high framerate. I've not noticed any weirdness either.
