GTX 1080 SLI (used 2x) VS Single 1080 TI / AMD GPU

no issue get whatever suits your needs i am just saying a 1080 sli is unnecessary, they also cause weird glitches and issue .

Glitches? Huh? I had SLI for 2 years. Every game worked like a charm. First 2560x1080 and then I upgraded to 4k screen. No stuttering, except Shadow of Mordor cause I was running of VRAM but otherwise it worked flawlessly.

well we all play different games my Skyrim was having issue, it was heavily modded skyrim and i kept falling off the world because the ground would not spawn, so i had to reboot the system to fix that. personally that's not acceptable but i might just been unlucky.

No.. You were unlucky. GPU has no effect on textures. Do you realise that heavily modded Skyrim with RNB doesn't scale with SLI almost at all? This is an exception that proves the rule.

If you're having issues it's on you, not SLI. I've had no problems in any game I play. People need to stop attacking SLI when they know nothing about it.

Because you're making it INCOPATIBLE WITH SLI by modding it. If all you play is 5 year old game, then keep buying single GPU. I play whole lot of games and each works fine with SLI.

dude skyrim is still a great game no game come close to the awesomeness of Skyrim please understand that.

No, Skyrim is dying and not everyone shares your taste. 

 

For your information: I heavily modded Skyrim back in 2015 and I had the best most intensive graphical mod ENB or something like that. 780 TI SLI in 4k.  I had stable 40FPS. Very much playable. Lowering the resolution slightly gave me constant 60FPS. I'm pretty sure I have screenshot somewhere.

so who cares if its dying i love that game the community is still quite big also not everyone shares your taste. a 780 ti is a joke now its the same power as a 1050 ti.

Two 1080s is going to blow the doors off of 1080Ti considering that it beats the Titan X Pascal already. Two slower cards (generally) beat a higher tier one.

From the benchmarks I saw it only beats the titan XP by about 10-15fps. Id rather have two 1080ti's then two 1080's.

Sure, if you have £1500 then everyone would happily do it. I have about £1000 and 1080 SLI would be better than single 1080 TI (I haven't yet decided, and it's CES time and they haven't even announced it) and could you show me where you got the benchmarks for 1080 TI from?

Never said anything about the performance of the 1080ti other then it will beat a single 1080 and in sli beat out 1080's in sli. As for the price its going to be about 200 more usd per card than the 1080. In the USA a titan XP is what 1200 usd. So your spending an extra 400 over a titan XP and an extra 200-300 over sli 1080's for two 1090ti's. Judging from past xx80ti cards from the 700 to 900 series I would put good money this years pascal 1080ti card will only be about 10% less performance than a titan XP. 

 

Edit: I mean you could find used 1080's for less but is it really worth spending an extra 600-700 for 20 more fps then a titan XP thats  up to you to decide. For me if you want the best in 4k performance its either two 1080ti's or what ever amd card that matches or beats it in performance.

Will the 1080 Ti even be launched though? I consider it highly unlikely.....

I know what I said and I gave you a fps range, second your posts asks for benchamrks of the 1080ti not the 1080 sli. Reread your post I quoted maybe you had a typo. Next time please reread your posts before jumping down someones neck.

I run over 300 mods in Skyrim and 100 mods in Skyrim SE. No problems running SLI.

Really depends on the game but the max increase over a titan XP seems to be in the 30 fps range with the games getting in the 10 fps range at its lowest. This varies on the type of game though. I still wouldnt say it REKS OMFG do you even game bro! a titan XP but it does outperform it by a good margin. Two 1080ti's if the tred of the xx80ti cards being slightly cut down titans continues the 1080ti's will actually REK a titan XP. After looking at the benchmarks Id say the average fps boost over the titan XP you get from having two 1080's is in the 15-25 fps range.

 

Edit: please note I didnt take into account resolutions when I looked at the benchmarks just for over all numbers.

1. Where are the benchmarks you saw for 1080 TI? I would consider getting that instead if I saw the benchmarks.

Not to mention, I already said that EVERYONE would rather want 1080 TI in SLI than 1080 in SLI, but guess what. Not everyone can afford £1500.

I read the post carefully, so don't you dare point out that I don't.

1. its a fps range thats all I gave and it changed based on looking it up to findout numbers more specifically.

2. I wasnt talking about specific fps number on the 1080ti because I cant, it doesnt take a rocket scientist to know the 1080ti will beat a 1080 duh

3. Pricing varies though based on rumor and from how things were priced in the base for xx80ti cards they were about 400 usd cheaper then the titan. Seeing as the 980ti was 600 and that the current 1080 is is 600 it makes sense to me theyll charge about 800 for a 1080ti. Never said it was fact anything said about the 1080 ti is speculation at best except that it would beat a 1080 that is just common sense.

4. If your shelling out for two 1080's chances are you can afford all of 300-400 extra if the pricing is to believed.
