Wish it was ultra-wide and didn't have a hideous base design.

If this was not a 27" version, but 34" or bigger, so would I replace my current 3 ROG monitors with it.

1440p is almost too small on 27"/28" already, not to mention 4k. Yes scaling is a thing, but that removes the point of having high resolution to begin with, as you might as well just buy a lower resolution monitor and skip the scaling. And before anyone says games and movies looks good, dont forget that some of them have text or huds that the developer forgot to add a scaling option for (more common on consol ports).

I speak my mind, sorry if thats a problem.

So $1000 at the very least then. How many does ASUS expect to sell, 500?

Edit: fix fer night theme plz :(

In France when a  800-900€ ROG monitor is  out, it's instant out of stock for like a month or more.

Those things are selling a lot , and it's not that stupid to invest in a good monitor.

After all you keep it way longer than an expensive graphic card.

I wish i could oc my body, during winter overheating would be great.

By the way kitguru is now claiming the actual price of these will be closer to 2000 USD rather than the 1200 we previously thought.

There has been some conflicting reports surrounding the cost of this monitor with some claiming $2000 and others claiming $1199. From what I have been told by our contacts, $2000 is the correct ballpark for this monitor, so we can estimate that this will work out around £1800/£1900 here in the UK. That is an estimate though, things could change in the months leading up to this hitting the market.

Don't know who his source is but it 1200 was already pushing it, 2000 is ridiculous. You can almost buy 3 4K screens for that much.

I dunno who this "kitguru" is but he doesn't know any more or less than the rest of us do on the subject.  What is correct is that Asus has removed all mentions of pricing from their blog entries and whatnot.  Which would seem to indicate they're re-thinking the pricing.  It was very clearly stated as $1199, but that number no longer exists in any of the Asus press.

If this panel follows Asus' usual, it won't exist in North America come Q3 this year.  More than likely Q1 or 2, 2018.  They never have enough hardware at launch time and it usually takes them several (more than 2 or 3) months to catch up.

With that, it's fair to expect that they'll also crank the price up and take advantage of the market.  If no one has any panels that are even closely competitive, what do they have to lose?

A self-proclaimed one, it appears.  Don't worry, they know nothing more than you or I do.
