I think about $1000 is a good price point. You can get a pretty awesome base razer blade stealth. If you want a Macbook, or want to upgrade the razer blade stealth with the better screen and storage, youll be looking around $1300-1400. Both MacBooks and Razer Notebooks have great battery.

Razer has some of the word QC on the market. The laptops look nice and feel nice but aren't on par with the XPS13. I feel perfectly comfortable buying XPS refurbs off eBay backed by dell's premium warranty, if u have any issues u can get a new one from dell itself. Razer is more like gg customer service good luck have fun.

XPS 13 is an amazing choice also. Since the MacBook line of computers were mentioned I defaulted to Razer due to their laptop's (Blade Stealth) superior build quality (in my opinion from hands on experience). Also with the Blade Stealth you get a faster Intel seventh gen (kabby lake) dual core (not that it really matters), as well as double the ram, for around the same price.

[screen "quality" (horrible term, makes me cringe) not included in the above since of no mention of screen technology from the asker]

A razer blade stealth is utter trash, it thermal throttles, has so many fucking QC issues, build quality is a joke, sure it feels nice, but that doesn't equal to build quality.

A 6th and 7th gen ULV is pretty much the same.

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

DAC and AMP: RME ADI 2 DAC

Speakers: Genelec 8040, System Audio SA205

Receiver: Denon AVR-1612

Desktop: R7 1700, GTX 1080  RX 580 8GB and other stuff

Laptop: ThinkPad P50: i7 6820HQ, M2000M. ThinkPad T420s: i7 2640M, NVS 4200M

Feel free to pm me if you have a question for me or quote me. If you want to hear what I have to say about something just tag me.

Quality control

You could literally pick the top thread on Razer Insider and it'll be about issues.

Macbook pro might suits your need. However this years model the ones with touchbar is not that reliable.

You can look into last years model.

If it is not broken, let's fix till it is.

This honestly just isn't true.   The issues reported have for the most part been debunked or shown to be greatly exaggerated.

As for the options.  XPS13 would be a good choice.  As is the 13 inch MBP.  I really want to like the Razer laptops but I haven't laid hands on any and there seem to be a lot of reports of QC issues.

Tell my tale to those who ask. Tell it truly; the ill deeds along with the good, and let me be judged accordingly.
