Personally I go for the 'I shave once every two to three days stubble look' but I can grow a full beard in a week or so.

 

With regards to opinions on them, if it suits the growers face, then for the most part it's fine by me. I had a beard for a year whilst at university, a goatee in college and now sport the stubble. Two caveats - unkempt or dirty beards are just disgusting and makes you look like a hobo and overly long beards (think Father Christmas) pretty much don't suit anyone and gives me an impression of uncleanliness (please note I said 'impression' - I am not saying that you are unclean).

Don't know why you two are shitting on the Goatee. I think it's an excellent beard for those who want one that is clean cut but can't fill out a traditional (even short) beard. It depends on the individual person as to whether they look good or not.

I have  the stubble look myself, mostly from laziness since hair grows fast and razer burn is ass. I do clean up on the days off since the GF doesn't like beards and because I like looking younger.

18 inches was an exaggeration. In reality it's only about 4 - 5 inches long which is what you would expect, considering that hair grows at a rate of around 0.5 inches/month

I currently have a full on hobo beard that I've been growing since October purely because I lack the effort to go buy new razors but normally I have stubble just anything to hide the chubby face :P

I can grow a beard similar to Nick Offerman's in about 2 months, if I don't shave every day it looks like I haven't shaved in a week compared to most people. Last time I did let it grow the beard-care and occasional itching really made me regret it :(

 

I'm extremely hairy all over and have been told by many women that it's a plus, but they never elaborate o.O

If you're a fat man and very white like me, keep a tidy chinstrap and goatee/beard with a mustache. I believe it looks the nicest and helps to give more definition to your features so you dont look as much like a marshmallow man
