Dell optiplex proprietary psu?

So i want an optiplex gaming build but is it true the psu is proprietary? If so would a case upgrade allow me to get a better psu? Or is it just proprietary in its connection to the motherboard?

The PSU could be a proprietary form factor, but the plugs, I believe, must conform to ATX standards.

 

It'd be better to tell us the model # so that we may let you know more accurately.

The mid tower form factor uses the normal PSU form factor so you can swap out with another PSU iirc. I have the SFF Optiplex and those are a proprietary form factor.

Most later (around 2004-2005) Dell full-size desktops use a normal ATX unit.
