It still baffles me that Nintendo still can't do right by developers or consumers. The whole "Apple" strategy of doing whatever they want instead of what the market wants hasn't exactly worked out for them.

The PS3 was a fucking nightmare to develop for, and yet, it had plenty of third party games to choose from.

 

If the console isn't powerful enough to deliver the experience the developers desire out of it, or revolves around an EXTREMELY stupid gimmick (as the Wii and WiiU do), then there won't be any support for it, especially if it sells like shit.

I think the Switch will sell uite well despite third party publishers being shit. After all it would be the only device of its kind to ever exist, and play Nintendo games (which would see better battery life than games from AAA publishers).

Pretty much-its why the Wii has Gamecube ports (not that many people would even know what the hell a Game Cube is-I think even the Original Xbox sold better despite being Microshaft's first console)

No, the Wii has gamecube ports because there wouldn't be any acceptable controllers otherwise. Why do you think Nintendo released an addon for the WiiU to add in Gamecube ports?

First party wise, the Wii U was ironically a bit disappointing and frankly lazy. The Wii was fairly hit and miss first party wise.

I can call it shit because it was so bad that it hurt WiiU sales.

There's also a difference between selling well and keeping those users active, and selling well only to be abandoned prematurely (and eventually sold) or returned, and the Wii falls into the latter, not the former.

The Wii and WiiU, should not exist. They're gimmicks, one trick ponies that could never hold their own against the competition.

I don't know about you but everyone that I know who owns a wii still fires their baby up when people are around as mario kart or smash is still 2 of the better/best split screen games available

To understand Nintendo, a different mindset is needed. Nintendo aren't trying to beat the XB/PS by doing the same thing, but they're taking a different route. Do you want a whole bunch of similar but just different enough to be incompatible platforms? Or do you want to see something new? XB1/PS4 are pretty much PC-lite now.

 

Switch is something different. It will struggle to take on XB/PS directly, but it isn't supposed to. Do not see it as PC-lite. It is mobile+.

Of everyone I know, only one person still has their Wii, and they don't touch it.

I also see more than twice as many Wii consoles than every other console combined in pawn shops and thrift stores.

The Gamecube versions of Smash are, and even then, the experience is 10x better on an emulator via cheap laptop because one can use a controller that's worth a fuck.

3 PS2s and a B/C capable PS3, all are in piss poor state. I've got a friend that has 3 gamecubes that work like new, even if every controller is fucked, but he won't sell one to me.

What I'm talking about would require a complete rebuild. I've sent the PS3 in to get a refurb.
