No, it's a boondoggle because of Lockheed Martin. It has been since its inception 6 years ago.

Ummmm, I hate to burst your bubble, but the JSF program and X-35/F-35 development started 23 years ago in 1993.

Sure, but the actual construction and testing which Lockheed took over is much more recent.

No dude. The X-35/F-35 was Lockheed's initial entry and they have been working on it since the inception of the JSF program in 1993 (23 years ago) The X-35 began flight testing on the 24th October, 2000 (16 years ago). The first Production F-35 flight was 16th December, 2006 (10 years ago).
