it was changed a while ago but i made it stay how it was but now it's stuck on shit mode

 No it shouldn't, Chrome moved to a flat ui as seen in your OP a few months ago.

The material design is the new normal. Change it to non-material and it will go back to what it was before.

I thought it was tied to Windows? For example, with Windows 8 and above, I've always had a material look because that's when Microsoft moved away from Aero. With Windows 7, it continued to have the translucent effects to match the OS.

I'm on Windows 10. Windows also only has control over the title bar and the navigation buttons at the top of the window while Chrome can control the rest.

The labels for each tab when in Windows 7 also follows the translucent effect of Aero while in Windows 8+ those tabs have a material look to it. That's what I was referring to.
