[Build Log] [COMPLETED] Project Adamantium - X99 Water Cooled - Enthoo Pro M Case Mods

UPDATE: The project is complete! See my final photos below :) thanks for following everyone! Till next time!

============================================================================================================================================================================================

[COMPLETE] Howdy! Well, here's my first build log on the LTT forums :) have been on other forums but figured I'd post here as well [COMPLETE]

The title says it, this is Project Adamantium. The inspiration came about because I wanted to do a silver/black build in order to be color neutral so that my RGB Led's would compliment the build no matter what I decided to set them to. Adamantium I chose because it sounds cool and is silver (For those that don't know, it's the metal that Wolverine's 'claws' are made out of).

To start out here is a parts list of what will be in this build.

Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro M Acrylic
CPU: i7-6800k
GPU: GTX 1080 FE (OC = 2126mhz)
Mobo: MSI X99 Gaming Pro Carbon
RAM: 32GB Corsair Dominator Platinum
PSU: EVGA Supernova 1000 G2
SSD: 500GB Samsung 850 EVO
SSD: 480GB OCZ TR150

Watercooling Parts going in this build:
EK-Supremacy Evo
EK-FC1080 GTX
EK-CoolStream SE 240 (Slim Dual)
EK-CoolStream SE 360 (Slim Triple)
EK-AF Angled 45° G1/4 Nickel
EK-AF Angled 90° G1/4 ( 1 black and 2 nickel)
EK-AF Extender Rotary M-M G1/4 - Black
EK-AF Ball Valve (10mm) G1/4 - Black
Bitspower G 1/4" Matte Black Rotary 90 Degree IG 1/4" Adapter (is a more stiff rotary fitting)

PrimoChill RevolverSX Silver fittings (12 Pieces)

PrimoChill 1/2" PETG tubing

Ok, so to start things off here are some glamour shots of the motherboard.

The MSI Gaming Pro Carbon is a fantastic option for this build. It's stealthy and looks phenomenal. The devil is in the details they say.

Up next we have the Corsair Dominator Platinum, honestly, there's nothing I can say about this RAM that hasn't been said already, it's just simply stunning.

cpt_1479221042970.jpg

And finally, the brains of the build, the Intel i7-6800k. Beast of a chip.

Next update will be some of the liquid cooling components!

Thanks for the follow to those have followed already and to those who will join :)

Queue the updates!

Ok, so this probably should have been posted first but here's a box shot of the major components going into the build

cpt_1479220326175.jpg

Up next, LIQUID COOLING!! :D this is by far my favorite part of building. A few notes about the pictures below, the first picture is not entirely correct. As you see in the second picture I replaced the Supremacy MX with a Supremacy EVO. I also will not be using the fittings and pump/res combo in this photo. I decided to change it up and get the EK D5 Revo with the clear plexi top and a standalone EK X-RES 250 Reservoir. The new fittings will be here on Friday and they deserve their own update! ;)

cpt_1479310627330.jpgcpt_1479576875226.jpg

And last but not least, a teaser of some assembly!

cpt_1479576911442.jpg

Thanks for following guys, there's nothing better than sharing a passion with like minded people!

Next update will most likely be Friday as the rest of this week is quite busy but I'll be around on the forums!

So, I know that I said it would be Friday before another update but I figured I have more to show now so why wait!

I know it was a mixed bag when the FE GTX 1080 was announced but personally I think it's a beautiful card.

IMG_20161119_112928.jpgIMG_20161119_112900.jpg

And yet, it's time to get that GPU naked!

IMG_20161119_114045.jpg

And dress it in it's new clothes. EK water blocks just look so damn good.

IMG_20161119_122520.jpgIMG_20161119_122513.jpgIMG_20161119_122508.jpgIMG_20161119_122534.jpg

Next update will be a little bit of information and pictures on the case mod I did on the Enthoo Pro M. I think it makes the interior look much more clean, but! You'll have to wait a little while longer for that one :)

Hope you enjoy!

Thanks manI I definitely need to do that, we just moved to a new apartment with more room so I'm hoping I won't even need the sheet now but if I do then I'll definitely iron out the wrinkles :)

I was pressed for time because a lot of these photos were taken RIGHT before we moved! lol.

Thanks for commenting and I hope you stick around!

Alright! I will have two updates today. The first will be showcasing some of my case mods for this build. The second will be of an order arriving today

First off, forgive the crappy pictures, I unfortunately did not have the time to make these look super nice. Some of them will be okay but others, meh. I for one am a huge fan of a nice clean interior and my personal preference is to not see radiator fans in the case. However, in the Enthoo Pro M the radiator bracket does not allow for fans be sandwiched between it and the top of the case. The solution? Mod of course!

You'll see my lovely dremel marks... this was not as clean a cut as I would have liked but a little spray paint fixed that and the fans cover it anyway.

IMG_20161114_182737.jpg

Essentially this bracket had lips on the top side which prohibited fans from being installed on this side. The below picture shows more clearly that the lips are gone.

cpt_1479577019507.jpg

Thankfully, Phanteks made it really easy to remove the whole top of the case like so:

G6V866A.jpg

After removing the top I could install the bracket with the rad beneath the bracket and the fans above the bracket:

ei0VcTx.jpg

6jKQq5O.jpg

And now with the top back on and the front rad installed, you can see, no internal radiator fans :) Also test fitting the OCZ silver SSD in the front.

Jnc3BLI.jpg

To go along with the silver theme, I painted the front and top grills silver. I think it adds some great contrast! I've toyed with the idea of doing some graphics but wanted to keep it simple and elegant.

There are a few more case mods coming but this should do for now :)

This looks amazing friend.

Can i also suggest something from looking at the components of this build, as your doing a new build you have the option to put in a M.2 SSD drive straight onto your m/board, it will also be faster than a conventional SSD and it also means NO cables, so i highly recommend a M.2 SSD for windows and then if you can afford it a Pci-e slot SSD for your files / games / programs etc.

at least for windows i would for sure go with a M.2

the rest looks like good choices.

Thanks for commenting! :) And I already got your suggestion covered sir!

unfortunately I won't be able to afford the PCI-e slot SSD for storage so I will use my 850 EVO and OCZ TR150 SSD for storage. Thanks for the suggestions though :)

I also want all of your opinions on my cable design. I'll post some pictures here want you to give your opinions on which layout you like best :)

So here are three different designs I'm thinking of for my cables. The colors are Black, Carbon and Silver. I'll post some photos provided by Cablemod of the actual color as the configurator doesn't quite replicate it well.
