970 OC... Am I doing something wrong?

Ekst4zy

So... I OC my 970 and that's what I ended up with. This cores are without mV adjusted... It's a reference cooler.

I checked online and it seems pretty high...

I should be happy, but I'm worried that I did something wrong or something.

What mV should I put on it? to continue? Should I even continue? (I have a g10 and h55, but I don't have time to install it now)

Cheers!

You can try and experiment. Don't worry about damaging the GPU with voltage, the BIOS won't let you set it too high. As long as the GPU is not overheating it's all good.

The thing is that previous owner had a custom BIOS... I THINK that I got a stock one now (I found one online and flashed it). But I'm not 100% sure it was a stock bios...

This is the one that I flashed:

230MHz? seems a bit high. Going too high on cards I use either crash the driver or create artifacting.

It didn't do either... It was funky on 250. 240 was ok, but I decided to step down 10 to make sure.

Final boost clock = 1475mhz? That is average/lower than average for GTX970 iirc.

You can max out Voltage and Power slider and then slowly increase core clock till it get unstable, it won't damage the chip. Watch out for the temperature though.
