Dark Rock Pro 3 with i3 6100

Guest

I am going to build an i3 6100 computer because I am broke. Someone purchased a Dark Rock Pro 3 for me, which has a TDP of 250w, the i3 has a TDP of 51w. I just wanted to share because I think it will be an odd combination.

Well id say it would be a stung combo if you yourself bought it but since someone else bought it is fine. Also I think that just means it'll support up to that tdp CPU, so you get some pretty cool temps

well get a better CPU in the future to make use of the cooler, you could wait and try to get the (not sure if confirmed) unlocked I3 from the Kabylake lineup launching in January

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

I am using a Z170 board, so I was planning to upgrade to an i5 6600k later in life.

thats also a solid choice but by the time you will have saved up money Kabylake will be out so get an I5 7700K instead, should just drop in in most motherboards as long as they are on the most recent BIOS

You mean the i5 7600k, or the i7 7700k. There isn't an i5 7700k.

Insane overkill. If you want to save time and thermal paste, just leave it by the side until you upgrade.
