cpu or gpu upgrade?

Hello, I want to upgrade my system by either getting another gtx 1070 for sli or an i7 6700k. I currently have a 4690k. Will a 4690k bottleneck two 1070s at 1440p?

Thanks in advance!

For a single 1070, with a modest overclock or even stock speeds, well cooled :P, it shouldnt be a problem at all, but given its two 1070's and at 1440p, then i can believe its not going to be a very smooth experience, with some stuttering here and there. Cant be sure tough, but if it were to work real good, it could very well be by a microfiber lining :d.

Do you have 144Hz monitor ? Otherwise I dont understand why u want 2x 1070 for 1440p. It would make sense for 4K but not for 1440p.

i5-4690k is not something I'd even remotely recommend for doing SLI.

yup an i5 will bottleneck a sli setup. get a i7

I would say that strongly depends on what OP is trying to achieve. We so far know it's 1440p, but what is the target FPS, and in which games? As @Thony said, OP could be heading towards an overkill setup with no practical benefits depending on that.

i pretty much want to be able to run every game at max settings at 60fps stable.

I would think you are OK as it is, then, but I may be wrong. Are you having troubles with some game? What is the performance like? Is the GPU or the CPU maxed out when that happens?

my cpu runs at 100% which causes some frame drops now and then in mist games

In that case, and if the GPU is at less than 100%, SLI won't help you, but a faster CPU might. You can try overclocking your i5 or going for the upgrade.
