i32 CO for 6700K - enough?

datho

Hey guys,

in my PC I'm going to put 6700K in Fractal Design Define S case with Z170 motherboard, and currently without a GPU.

Just wanted to ask if Arctic's i32 CO semi-passive CPU cooler can hadle overcloked 6700K. I'm not gonna overclock it to extreme - 4.5GHz would satisfy me.

Here there is some info on the cooler: https://www.arctic.ac/worldwide_en/freezer-i32co.html

Thanks in advance!

Yes, its recommended TDP is 150, but can handle 320. It is enough and should get you a decent overclock

Thanks! Do you recommend on adding another fan (same model as the one included) for push-pull configruration? it would cost me about $20, and if it's not needed I prefer to prevent from this extra cost.

Adding another fan wouldn't improve performance much.

4.5ghz isn't guaranteed but can be doable depending on your luck.

On a 6700k it's guaranteed basically.

Out of 92 samples on OCN in the Skylake OC thread,  only 2.5% of them didn't get 4.5.

The vcore noted in the chart for 4.5ghz range between 1.2v-1.45v which may end up being too much for the i32 to handle.

Here, a 6700k at 1.325v reaches 87c under an i32. http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3235150/tc12dx-replace-arctic-i32-6700k.html

I bought a binned chip and delidded it and put a huge radiator in my loop, bout it lol. Yeah it's stable.

Reasonably I think you should be able to hit at least 4.4 ghz with that cooler, Skylake chips run pretty cool.

If you haven't already bought that cooler you could always get something like a Cryorig H5 universal or something,  I just put one in my mom's PC the other day and it's real nice.
