Space Hulk Deathwing release delayed 5 days for Q&A - criticise or praise?

mark_cameron

Space Hulk: Deathwing release has been pushed back 5 days to - provisional 14th December as a result of the closed Beta test at the end of November.

See: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2016-12-07-space-hulk-deathwing-delayed-a-week

and: http://www.gamespot.com/articles/two-days-before-release-space-hulk-deathwing-pushe/1100-6446066/

Now, I'm as eager as everyone for release day (I've prepaid). However after the whole Batman Arkham Knight 2015 release and numerous other issues with recent releases.

I'm not one to criticise a pre-Christmas release like this being delayed to fix some issues. It is a very brave developer-publisher who does this.

If only every developer and game publisher actually spent time ensuring Q&A is sorted before release!

I still haven't purchased Batman Arkham Knight as a protest of developers ignoring PC gamers and releasing badly ported games.

Without doing some due diligence before release. Thank god someone at Streum On studio has had the balls to do it here.

Should be the default. I'm sick of developers and publishers pushing out rubbish and poorly Quality Assured games.

Anyone else agree?

Anyone been burnt buying games that aren't as advertised?

If a game is being more polished 5 days it's not that big deal.

I wouldn't mind too much if they made that 10 days for a pre-Christmas release either.

I would be furious mind having already spent about GB£40 to find its absolutely atrocious if they released it on the 9th December.

Honestly praise.

They had a beta, the community saw the bugs, and pointed them out. The developer did the correct thing and pushed back release to try and work out those last few kinks before launching the game.

Its a far better strategy than a lot of developers are running, which is basically, "Release the open 'beta' a week before launch, ignore the community, only pay attention to server load, then release the game with a minimal day 1 patch to add fix some graphical bugs. Work that should have been done weeks prior to launch." *COUGH DICE COUGH COUGH COUGH* "Then release a 1/2 finished game missing most of its multiplayer features, all of its customization features, and a horridly broken party system."

Totally agree.

As said. I've not purchased Batman Arkham Knight.

I refuse to give my money to studios that don't take QA and PC gamers into any sort of consideration.

The release of 50% or 60% completed games is far too frequent at the moment.

STEAM and GOG  and similar need to stamp down on companies releasing open beta level games as 'full release'.

or games that are obviously in trade descriptions violations. games that basically don't work as advertised

It's happening far too frequently.

Do you think that 5 days is enough then?

Or should they make it 10 days?

Do these people (studios) not realise releasing unfinished games is only going to harm their studio reputations in the long run?

Honestly. Its ridiculous isn't it?

I preordered this.

However, if I download it and its rubbish I'm going to make an official complaint to STEAM for false advertising.

I'm not buying a half finished game. I'm buying a finished game.

  • 2 weeks later...

CRITICISE.

Its no where near finished. Yet another game released before they finished it. Just so they can charge for DLC.

This is ridiculous.

Its in our Hands to stop this. Never Preorder and wait for tests.

Its beyond a joke.

The state of the games industry for PC games and the number of unfinished games being routinely released - is something I would love to see covered on the WAN Show or something. Someone needs to say something about it.

Its happening all the time now. Lazy publishers are getting away with it thinking that 'Patching' weeks later is acceptable.
