Yeah the ebay never fails. I may end up selling mine before too long and dropping to a kaby lake series.

Yea man, the 5960x is pretty much overkill for almost every workload except maybe 3d design and rendering.

Kaby Lake is just as bad when it comes to thermals when overclocked compared to Skylake...

They hardly put out the heat to a oc'd extreme edition with similar voltage.

Yeah I know. I should of specified the post a bit more. What do they sell for on forums

Think its 9 or 10% last time I sold something on there for electronics since the shop I use is a major store

Yeah, plus the fee Paypal takes, unless that's included in the equation since stores might get a bigger break.

Looks like the selling price is around $650 on Reddit.

It's a pretty niche market, so it's hard to gauge pricing. Chances are if someone's willing to drop $800 on a CPU, they have no problem with paying the extra for brand new gear. eBay might actually be the best bet after all, even with the amount you'd lose to them. People always overpay for stuff like that there.

I know it's the 7700k, I'm just showing that Kaby Lake doesn't run cooler than Skylake, let alone a 5960X xD because op was saying he'd upgrade to Kaby Lake.

Oh lord the 5960x would have a soldered IHS i went from 6700k to 6850k and my temps are wayyyy down. the 6700k and likley 7700k are very hot cores.

Then your block isn't mounted correctly or you've done something wrong, because pretty much every other owner of a 5960X did fine with temps.

Look at my voltage... I didn't win the silicon lottery by any means.

I also have my GPUs in my loop. Can't exactly run dual loops in a define r5

1.325V is still perfectly acceptable... And with that many rads, something must be wrong for your temps to be that high... Having the GPUs in the loop would also affect the temps, but what temps are they running at?

There is nothing wrong with my loop at all.

91 was everything stressed out.

Average my system idles about

~40-50c cpu

~30-32 both gpus

Temps vary a lot here and depends if I want the fans going or not.

Gaming wise super low fan speed ~71 is as hot as it gets

~66 or so with my fan setup

And you're missing my point... Hardwarecanucks got 90 degrees... on a 120mm rad. Something is wrong here. To answer your op though, at least $700 makes sense.

There is nothing wrong with it. 980 ti classys in SLI + a heavily OC'd 5960x

Tell me what I've done wrong please. All the fans in my system are high static pressure so that's not an issue.
