Samsung S8 will NOT have a HeadPhone Jack

goodtofufriday

If it was truely about size then why cant we have a 2.5mm jack?  Sure we'd need adapter but we could still play and  charge. I meam thats how it was done before smart phones came around.

You may have missed the Galaxy S, the Galaxy S II, the Galaxy Tab 10.1, S Voice, Samsung Wallet, the S5's fingerprint reader, Samsung Pay, parts of the S6 and S7 designs...

What about those?

battery life isn't great either. They tech imo isn't as good as it should be to ditch the jack yet

Totally agree. But we have had jaks for decades without any solid improvement in other solutions. Hopefully something good comes out of this.

I perspnally am not interested in top end market so I will enjoy the jacks for several years to come before they are abandoned by the majority of the manufacturers.

We desperately need longer lasting batteries. There was news few months back about batteries that can last lot longer while maintaining the size but I dont remember any details as I think it was a result of an accident and will take forever to become a standard...

I find it lame that a brand as big as Samsung feels the need to follow Apple's brainless trend of ditching useful inputs. It doesn't bother me though I have never been into using smartphones anyways I feel they are a waste of money and my cheap Nokia Lumia fits my needs while having headphone jacks and frankly I doubt I'll buy a new phone before it breaks and since its a Nokia that might not even happen before I die xD

They were all replicating features Apple had designed first (or in the case of the Galaxy S/S II/Tab 10.1, simply trying to imitate the look).
