PSU compatibility (Corsair HX1000i) help SOLVED*

josh22920killer

Hello! I had a question regarding a PC my brother and I are trying to build. Now I have to be frank, we are newbies to building a PC but we managed to save up a lot of money over a year to build something overkill for the both of us.

On Black Friday my brother jumped on getting a Corsair HX1000i PSU thinking they were all created equal other than its power delivery which they arent.

(Here is the PSU) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139082&cm_re=corsair_hx1000i-_-17-139-082-_-Product

We plan to use a GTX 1080 Titan X Pascal which requires an 8pin and a 6 pin connector, the Corsair HX1000i has an 8 pin (4+4) and another 8 pin (6+2) will this PSU work with this graphics card?

Also i am using a 6850k paired with the MSI Godlike Gaming Carbon Motherboard inside of the Be Quiet Dark Base 900 Pro case. There are more components but i believe I have the compatibility sorted out for those.

6850k (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117647)

MSI Godlike Gaming Carbon Motherboard (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130921)

Dark Base Pro 900 Pro Case (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA68V45G2217)

I appreciate any help I can get from this! If our PSU is not compatible we can still send it back, and if we need to it would also be nice to hear a few recommendations :) Thanks!

This thread has been solved! Thanks for your help!

Yes just plug the 8 pin of the PSU and 6 pin from the other cable and leave the rest 2 pin hanging around. Should be really fine.

Really love the blue stickers on the side. No really love it.

An HX1000i is overkill even for two 1080s but yes, that PSU will work aplenty for your system.

nah fam, that PSU is bloody amazing. You'll be fine, not to mention it's modular so even if there's a problem you can just get the necessary cable

try PCPartpicker just to be sure

He got an X99 mobo with 6850k so check on that part

Titan XP on a mobo with PCI E 16 check on that part too

A full ATX case and a 1000w psu so check

And 10 SATA ports  and 1M.2 slot for drives so that is checked too

There, no need for PCPP
