New U.S. Federal Surveillance Rules, Similar to U.K., Come into Effect Tomorrow

Eh. He will be in a couple months, like it or not. Bernie utterly failed. Honestly I despise Trump, but at least he isn't as autistic as Bernie.

Bernie was the most genuine candidate.  That's why I think he deserved to be President.  He wasn't running for ego like Trump or legacy like Hillary.  He was running because he genuinely gives a shit about our future and actually knows what the fuck hes doing.

You must have never heard of the Freedom Act. It did exactly this, except more generally (for devices or traditional surveillance)

I have a bunch of friends in the legal fields and none of them care about this. The first thing they say whenever I bring up digital privacy is "I've got nothing to hide, let them search". Until this reaches the general publics thick skulls in a way they'll understand, this kind of shit will keep happening.

I'd like to see detailed reason on why exactly you think Trump is an "unqualified dirtbag".

Anyways, back on topic, this is ridiculous, from the spying to the botnet, it all needs to just stop.

The NSA needs to be abolished, and the government needs to back the hell off with trying to get access to everyone's data.

Q) has Trump ever held any type of public office?

A)LOL nope

Q) Does Trump constantly act unpresidential?

A) Yes

Q) Has he bragged about sexually assaulting women?

Q) Does this man know basic fucking facts about immigration?

A) Well, he claims a wall would stop immigration, yet 80% of undocumented immigrants come over on planes and overstay their visas.

Q) Does Trump realize that we need to act now instead of later about reversing the effects of climate change?

A)He thinks it's a Chinese hoax, so no.

Q)Does Trump have the temperament to be President?

I don't like that he sold himself out to Hillary Clinton.  I just think he had no choice.  He was either told to endorse her or quit politics.  Another motive is that he really didn't want Trump to win, and for very good reason.

I believe the dnc and rnc have the same rules regarding party participation and supporting nominees.

You're bringing up President-Elect Trump in a thread about a new bill on giving LEO more power, talking about how "right-wing extremists" will rue the next 4 years: Literally, this had nothing to do with Trump "Trump could abuse this!" Well yeah. Just like our president for the past 8 years has been over-reaching, this bill is a direct result of it, don't look at the pebble on the ground when we're all pointing at the moon.

You clearly have no idea what "Locker room talk" means.

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Locker Room Talk

How about the fact that Hillary Clinton has been under FBI investigation for the past 20 years?

Or the fact that she's committed federal crimes? (Mishandling Classified Information by storing classified information on a private email server, Violation of the 2009 Federal Records Act by both using a private email server and also deleting the 33,000 emails, and plenty more)

How about Benghazi? Or that Bill Clinton has sexually abused women, and Hillary defended him? Or that she wants to make it much more difficult, if not impossible to purchase firearms legally? Or maybe that she's taken millions of dollars from foreign governments as "gifts", then changed her stance on something immediately after, or pushed for something that would benefit said government immediately after. Sounds like more of bribes than gifts if you ask me.

Anyways, let's keep this thread on topic.

Lot of stuff in Wikileaks and the Podesta E-mails.

DNC, in collaboration with Shillary; took down the old naive socialist Jew, who could've made anime real, so the robot with seizures, who can't connect to the average American/human-being, had the best shot at the title.

At the very least lads Kek won against Moloch, and thanks to meme magic, anime can still be real lmao

On the real, as an American, i'm not liking this bill and it's not surprising to most of us. It will be abused and it's not in anyone's interest to lose freedoms in exchange for security.

Similar to the newly enacted UK legislation, Investigatory Powers Act, Rule 41 seeks to further expand the surveillance powers of intelligence agencies.  The rule would further erode Fourth Amendment protections as warrants can be applied to large swaths of devices rather than a targeted device.

This would also allow the NSA and FBI to deploy large botnets.  What could possibly go wrong?  As more of these draconian laws are enacted, the prospect of freedom and democracy seems to be a paper tiger.

The reason why this is important is because individual devices are hard to pinpoint when you have a lot of devices using the same spectrum. They have to collect all or none. This makes it legal to collect the information, then it all has to be filtered, with the unimportant altuff tossed out, not sitting on some AT&T ... erm... NSA server for the next couple decades...

Again, FBI and other intelligence agencies don't care about your porn habits, as long altuffgencies sexier it doesn't involve children.

It's not about 1985 and Big Brother. It's about understanding how this technology works. Law enforcement and military still need to operate. It's not their fault, or our fault, that our laws and understanding of civil liberties hasn't adapted to the fast evolution of a technological society.

Same here. I really am interested in this, but it seems that people are afraid of change... your ISP and phone company monitor and record your online activity anyways. And then they sell this to advertisers for cash. The government is trying to find people with bad intentions. They could care less about someone's secret Brony fetish or other hobbys. As long as that hobby doesn't involve mass murder, assassination, or drug/human trafficking.

Does a VPN actually hide this from your ISP? Or does it encode it, and if they know what VPN you use, it can be decoded?
