Ps3 issues relating to displays?

I realized that my hdmi port no longer works after one of the pins broke off for some reason << this is probably from the constant tugging it out and forth since I liked to use the hdmi cable for other reasons..Is there any fix to this besides opening it up? Will sony charge me a fee to fix a small issue like this? Will a computer shop repair this for me?

 

I also realized that when i am using the ps3 composite cable with rgb,  I can only use 480i since using 480p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p doesn't work as it turns black screen on me after i select one of those options...Is that normal especially when I am using an hdtv that supports 1080p 720p?

Composite doesnt support any more than 480i, you need a component cable which has a green and blue cable aswell, this will support it below is one on ebay:

Will it display better resolution thatn 480i?

what is the model number of the tv. and if it is compatible it will display up to 1080p

at the back of your tv what ports do you have, can you take a picture of the ports if possible

sorry for late reply, my tutor arrived so i was busy for the last few hours. It is compatible and will allow 1080p.i had to do this when i wanted to use my capture card btw. dont get a cheap cable as it can be glitchy with a cheap one
