[Rumor] ZEN to be "soldered"

No one realizes that's a SandyBridge E5 Xeon delidded?

That's not an Intel CPU. There's no grooves/cuts on the side for the socket placement. AMD's are typically uncut squares.

Even so, Intel puts their grooves opposite of the arrow indicating the direction of CPU placement. That's not an Intel CPU.

There are no grooves on the CPU that's being claimed to be an AMD Zen CPU.

It's a Bristol Ridge APU, not Zen chip.

So socket AM4, excavator-based.  Which is probably why it looks so similar to an FX-chip.

SFF-ish:  Ryzen 5 1600X, Asrock AB350M Pro4, 16GB Corsair LPX 3200, Sapphire R9 Fury Nitro -75mV, 512gb Plextor Nvme m.2, 512gb Sandisk SATA m.2, Cryorig H7, stuffed into an Inwin 301 with rgb front panel mod.  LG27UD58.

Aging Workhorse:  Phenom II X6 1090T Black (4GHz #Yolo), 16GB Corsair XMS 1333, RX 470 Red Devil 4gb (Sold for $330 to Cryptominers), HD6850 1gb, Hilariously overkill Asus Crosshair V, 240gb Sandisk SSD Plus, 4TB's worth of mechanical drives, and a bunch of water/glycol.  Coming soon:  Bykski CPU block, whatever cheap Polaris 10 GPU I can get once miners start unloading them.

MintyFreshMedia:  Thinkserver TS130 with i3-3220, 4gb ecc ram, 120GB Toshiba/OCZ SSD booting Linux Mint XFCE, 2TB Hitachi Ultrastar.  In Progress:  3D printed drive mounts, 4 2TB ultrastars in RAID 5.

That pic is clearly a intel pentium d cause during that time, intel don't have a real dual core, so they glue single core pentium 4s together and call it dual core.

The ihs says amd, well intel snatched it from, no time to make their own.

ZEN is looking greater every day. Intel has cheaped out in stuff for a long while, because they could. Well no more. Either Intel stops cheaping out and selling low end products at mid to high end prices, or AMD will gain huge market share again. I guess they will either way, just due to competition alone.

I still have a 4790K, so it's probably smarter to get a new GPU than CPU, but maybe next year will grant both.

Watching Intel have competition is like watching a headless chicken trying to get out of a mine field

CPU: Intel I7 4790K@4.6 with NZXT X31 AIO; MOTHERBOARD: ASUS Z97 Maximus VII Ranger; RAM: 8 GB Kingston HyperX 1600 DDR3; GFX: ASUS R9 290 4GB; CASE: Lian Li v700wx; STORAGE: Corsair Force 3 120GB SSD; Samsung 850 500GB SSD; Various old Seagates; PSU: Corsair RM650; MONITOR: 2x 20" Dell IPS; KEYBOARD/MOUSE: Logitech K810/ MX Master; OS: Windows 10 Pro

ups :-).

then i don't understand what the confusion here is about.

its either a bristol bridge apu or a Zen, either way its clearly an amd product.

and i believe it to be the first one.

i don't think at this stage people would be taking a Zen CPU apart.

Similarities my right foot! Different lenses, different lighting angles, different surfaces, different distances to sensors!

The "Zen" picture is a photoshopped E7 2830 with a lightsource at 15* to the horizontal which any halfwit using basic knowledge of optics and refraction equations could tell you. The shadow is produced by the elevation of sitting on top of the capacitors on the bottom of the package.

Also note that all the Intel CPUs have three golden dots and one triangle in the corners. This CPU only has a triangle, no dots.

Can we all just agree that this is a rumor and that the picture provided is a pentium1, nobody wins in that case and everyone might be wrong.

also if the RUMOR, because yes its a rumor and we cant factcheck untill we are given real evidence to either support, or bust this rumor, is true i am realy intrested in the temps when pushed to its limits.

How can you even say that? It's clearly an i386, no doubt about it! Don't try to pretend that it's a pentium.

With the screens you have a 290 is fine for a year more. Next year you can go upgrade both your CPU and GPU.

Also this looks pretty good, sadly they don't handle heat very well. 60c is not much....
