i would say upgrading is a good option but the question is. do you need it? do you find yourself in a lot of bottleneck situations?

It depends what games you play. If playing somthing CPU reliant like ARMA or BF1 then yes, but otherwise I wouldn't worry too much (Or editing/rendering).

Please quote our replys so we get a notification and can reply easily. Never cheap out on a PSU, or I will come to watch the fireworks.

well it's quite old. the cpu isn't that bad, the board idk. If you are happy with that performance it gives to you, let everything as is.

If you want performance upgrade on the cheap, overclock the 2500k.

If you feel that it is too slow for rendering stuff etc for your needs, upgrade it. A i7 6700k + new board will be quite a bit faster but will cost you 500+$ so we don't know whether it is to slow for you personally.

EDIT: the board seems to have quite good specs in terms of I/O, nothing really outdated.

for what - the 6700k or the 2500k?

for the 2500k, leave as it is. It does look like a premium board in terms of features and so on.

for the 6700k: it really depends on what you wanna spend. good boards start at 150$ish

not for playing at 1080p, 1440p sure but that can still do good at 1080p

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)
