Help me spend my money wisely!

Lilith

Embarrassing to say,but it is the SA90 Pentium D with 512MB RAM runnin Vista. It is thrown already.

Acer has kinda pulled a 180 on their higher tier laptops.  I love my S7 392 and im sure Kayn loves his too.  Super high build quality.

What is your budget.  You listed some prices but how much would you LIKE to spend, and how much are you WILLING to spend?

Around $1000-$2000 in the hope that after I claim taxes in July next year, I would receive 50% of what I spent, back into my pockets.

I also prefer Ultrabooks due to the touchscreen & the fact that most of them come with SSD's instead of HDD's. I would probably use a USB or external hard drive if I ever needed anymore space but I doubt it because it will mainly be used for "Microsoft Word" + portability.

A referbished mac + a ram and ssd upgrade would be a nice laptop. 1600 for a gt650 1gb , i7 and a retina screen would be baller.

I'm not 100% sure when its coming out, but you may want to look into the Asus zenbook infinity.  Oh my god that thing looks amazing.  Also the S7 is hard to not recommend.  It has great battery life, a great screen, is extremely fast thanks to a RAID 0 array of SSDs, and its super light.  I love mine :P  I'll shop around a little later when i'm not in class.

I have a hard time with OS X.  while i can't deny the build quality of apple products, using OS X is like trying to use a computer with socks over my hands.  I know what i have to do but i always find myself having a hard time trying to do things.  After about a full month of using my sister's old Macbook (yes ladies and gentlemen, the old, white plastic macbook, and mind you  this was a few years ago) i found myself still fumbling around the OS.  It just felt cludgey and disjointed.  [MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, your experience may vary]

why not?

- a little bit heavier than the S7

Agreed on this. Apple does some good stuff. Maybe even a 15" with GT 750M.

I thought it was a 650M?
