GameCube on vga

So recently i went to get my GameCube from out of the dust.

 

I would love to get it to work on my monitor through its VGA-input. I have the component cables (white, red and yellow) and i already have a thingy that i can put the red and black in (the audio cables). My only need now is how i can get the yellow one in my VGA-port. 

I already watched this guide (I need to do this stuff to the cable). My question is: does this work? 

Also I´d rather not do this and get a converter instead, however I have no experience with them and I don´t know what is good and which ones are terrible. 

I ask this here since i know people will have done stuff like this here and will have gone through the same stuff as i am going through now.
