My laptop completely freezes

Good night or day anyone who is reading.

There's past a year since I bought a laptop

Dell inspiron 3451

Intel Pentium n3540

Intel HD

500gb HDD

4GB of DDR3 memory

 

My warranty ended in September

Last month, one day my laptop suddenly freezed, but totally got freezed

I couldn't even move mouse cursor, keyboard wasn't working, time wasn't changing, nothing was working. I had to turn it off by pressing power button, I turned it on again and like after half an hour it happened the same, this time I had disconnect my wireless mouse and every device connected, and it happened the same, so touchpad wasnt doing its job, neither keyboard, time, nothing

Turned it off again

I opened my laptop and take my HDD apart, inserted a USB with Ubuntu bootable image, and after some time of working with live image from the pendrive, problem occurred again. So problem wasn't HDD, I installed my HDD back into my laptop , checked temps before anything happened , but they were OK, around 60°

Then it suddenly happened again after a while, so I opened my laptop and reinserted the RAM. It worked,at least for that day, I really thought that had solved the problem, but after two days it happened again, and again once every two days I would say, it wasnt as constant as first day but it was happening

Today I opened my laptop, cleaned my RAM and put it back to its place, after half an hour my laptop failed again :(

Now I don't know what it's causing this failure

I hope anyone can help me

The motherboard is probably going bad, from what it sounds like.

If you can boot into Windows successfully, run Windows Memory Diagnostic to see if a stick of memory went bad. You can also use MemTest86 which should be included in your Ubuntu bootable image.

Thank you, i've just done the windows memory diagnostic test and it says there's no a memory problem :/

Ok, so we can eliminate memory being the issue. Now let's see if your system is stable in Safe Mode. What Safe Mode basically does is load up Windows with the basic core services to get in the OS and do any troubleshooting and maintenance. To boot into safe mode, hold Shift while clicking Reset in the power menu either in the log in screen or the Start Menu. Then following the instructions in the spoiler.

Then Restart. After the system reboots, you'll be brought to a screen where it asks you a whole bunch of options for start-up. You want to go into safe mode, so press 4 on the keyboard.

 

Let the system run for a while and see if it still locks up. If it does, then we certainly have an interesting hardware issue on our hands. If not, then the problem may lie with conflicting programs or services.
