Easy way to find if TV supports Chroma 4:4:4?

Raphael_123

Hello!

I am looking through the black friday deals for TVs and I am noticing not all manufactures show if the TV supports Chroma 4:4:4. Is there an easy or reliable way to find this info?

For example this Visio TV shows it supports Chroma 4:4:4 but having trouble looking for this info in other TVs

Download the image that fits the resolution of the TV you want to test.  View it full screen on the TV.

If the text with background that's red or blue is very hard to read, your TV runs in YCbCr 4:2:2 or 4:2:0

See http://www.geeks3d.com/20141203/how-to-quickly-check-the-chroma-subsampling-used-with-your-4k-uhd-tv/

Example of bad chroma (not 4:4:4)

LG 49UB850V 4k @ 60Hz: 4:2:0: chroma subsampling

the 1080p version (should see bad text with this even on 4k tvs but some 4k tvs may do upscaling of 1080p content in such a way that the chroma artefacts are not visile)
