I'd say 280X because it performs the same, is $100 cheaper and has 1GB VRAM more. But wait for 290, it should cost a little more than 770 and be superior to it.

I'd go with GTX 770, but if you can add more money, get GTX 780 or R9 290x (with aftermarket cooling)

I would say in your situation the R9 280X is the better deal. Do you get the free games with it?

No.

I agree with this. I'd wait for the 290 (no X) as its looking to be the 450 dollar or 500 dollar price point and has AMD TrueAudio and has roughly the same performance as a 780.

The R9 280X is faster, has 3GB  supports HDAO+, Mantle and DX11.2.
The GTX 770 has stutter issues because of the 2GB.
BF4 needs 3GB of memory.

The GTX 770 will run out of memory and cause lag spikes

After logging hours of play time in Battlefield 4 Beta using both the Radeon R9 280X and GeForce GTX 770, the AMD Radeon R9 280X appears to deliver a far superior gaming experience compared to the NVIDIA GeForce 770 GTX no matter what the framerate graphs show.
For example, when playing with the GTX 770, when there was not much action happening on the screen and there was not a lot of fast motion on the screen, gameplay was fluid and acceptable. However, once we got into firefights and explosions, we would experience significant lag and frame rate dips that made it a very unplayable experience.

then don't bother asking in the first place and stop being so quick in your judgments.

Unless you really hate AMD due to whatever religious reasons, go get a 280X and do yourself a favor.

I don't even understand what you just said. The 280X has the same performance if not better in certain situations. It's 100 dollars cheaper. The ASUS 280X is a good one for example.

Everyone has it's preference. He likes Nvidia. Me too, but it doesn't mean I consider AMD cards as bad. It's just matter of taste.

the reason amd gpus are better in bf4 beta is because the game is optimised to be played with amd cards. we really can only compare gpus on this game when the full game has been released and/or when both amd and nvidia have got there drivers straight

AMD is not bad in terms of quality. Their drivers are better than Nvidia imo as Nvidia drivers has been breaking people's cards. Currently using a 7950 and the performance is great. I would go with a R9 280X since it has a better price to performance ratio. Would only get Nvidia cards if you really needed CUDA and Physx.
