Thank god I was saving up some money for the last 6 months, maybe I can get a Titan X. Funny part is that using it with an i5 will be weird. I missed this thread.

Thought it was time to try my best to beat my old score of 2774, so I went for it.. And as I was, I've noticed my gpu has broken in more, I can now run at higher clocks stable, so my new daily (still in a bit of testing) is 1548MHz on the core, and 7.4GHz effective, probably could do 8GHz effective stable, but I am on 3 monitors with it, so it idles at it's memory's max boost... And core at 899MHz, that is also why I want a new motherboard, so I can run my 650ti currently sitting in a black desk my computer is on doing nothing...

I tried to do 1553MHz on the core, and that on the core (8.36GHz effective) but it seems I capped my 8pin out.. I saw gpu-z read 120% TDP, then 121, then pinned at 120% for about 5-8 seconds, then a click from the psu restricting the gpu, then a black screen on windows, so I flipped the switch and rebooted, I would try that once more, but I'm pretty sure the lack of a 6pin to go with the 8pin is my limit on this card.. Then again, I don't think Asus expected this thing to overclock well, and seeing I've only seen about 4 Strix 970s on forums (including mine) that have samsung memory, I assume it was only for the first few batches seeing I ordered mine back on Christmas Day... In reality, I should have a 290X Lightning right meow, but it went off sale the day of purchasing since my 290 died...

 

TL;DR, 8pin is bottlenecking it, I cannot go any higher, and the card broke in more allowing me to run at stable higher clocks, but still under testing.

Ok , Put my old 580's back in. Had a problem with one of my 980's so I had to RMA :(  So here are my two MSI GTX 580 lightnings in SLi with GPUz this time and a better OC.

was joking. i hate gpu's and i dont think the gtx580 would be much good at 4k :P if i did i would get the classy ultra.

that is a shame. i still have a 480. i dont really use it much due to the heat it puts out.

that is a shame high frame buffer cards come into there own in the long run. thats why titans are actually a great gpu to buy ;)

Thanks, I got lucky with a good card there I think :)   Stock cooler but custom fan profile, max temps 67c
